FLIP DOP Controller — End User License Agreement. Last updated: 26/08/2026.

In plain language: FLIP DOP Controller is free. You may use it on machines you control, for your own personal and commercial projects, and everything you create with it — simulations, caches, and renders — is yours, royalty-free. The asset ships unlocked so you can open it up and learn from it. You may share the original, unmodified asset with others, but you may not sell it or pass it off as your own. It is provided as-is with no warranty, and you are responsible for your own SideFX license compliance. The full terms below govern.

This License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you (the "User") and tonehammer ("Author") for the Houdini Digital Asset known as "FLIP DOP Controller" and any accompanying files, documentation, and resources (collectively, the "Asset").

By downloading, installing, or using the Asset, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not download, install, or use the Asset.

1. License grant

The Asset is provided free of charge. The Author grants you a non-exclusive license to use the Asset on machines under your control, for your own commercial or personal projects, subject to the terms below.

2. Permitted use

You may:

  • Use the Asset to set up and control fluid simulations in Houdini for your own personal or commercial projects.
  • Use simulations, caches, renders, images, animations, and other output created with the Asset freely, including commercially, with no royalty owed to the Author.
  • Install the Asset on any number of machines that you personally own or control.
  • Open the Asset, inspect how it works, and modify it for your own use. The Asset ships unlocked deliberately.
  • Share the original, unmodified Asset file with others, provided it is passed along free of charge, complete, and with this Agreement and its attribution intact.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Sell, resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or otherwise charge for the Asset itself, in whole or in part, whether modified or unmodified.
  • Present the Asset, or a modified version of it, as your own work, or remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, attribution, or proprietary notices contained in or accompanying the Asset.
  • Repackage or redistribute the Asset in a way that misrepresents its origin, or bundle it into a paid product where the Asset is a material part of what is being sold.

4. Houdini license compliance

The Asset is distributed as a Houdini Indie / Apprentice ("limited commercial") Digital Asset (.hdalc), which loads in Houdini Indie and Apprentice but not in commercial (FX/Core) licenses. You are solely responsible for ensuring your own use of Houdini and of this Asset complies with SideFX's licensing terms; the Author is not responsible for your compliance with SideFX licensing.

5. Third-party content

The Asset operates on standard Houdini FLIP simulation nodes, which remain the property of Side Effects Software. This Asset is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by SideFX.

Icon artwork sourced from third parties is credited in graphics/icons/ATTRIBUTION.txt and remains under its own license.

6. No warranty

THE ASSET IS PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. THE AUTHOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE ASSET WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, OR BE FREE OF ERRORS.

The Asset modifies parameters on nodes in your scene. You are responsible for saving your work and for reviewing any changes it makes.

7. Limitation of liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF SIMULATION CACHES, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR PRODUCTION DELAYS) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE ASSET, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. YOUR SOLE REMEDY IS TO STOP USING THE ASSET.

8. Support and updates

As a free tool, the Asset is provided without any guarantee of support or updates. When updates are released, they are made available at no cost, but their timing, scope, and content remain at the Author's sole discretion. This Agreement does not promise any particular feature, fix, upgrade schedule, or support response.

9. Termination

This Agreement is effective until terminated. It terminates automatically if you breach any of its terms. On termination, you must stop using the Asset and delete all copies in your possession.

10. Entire agreement

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Author regarding the Asset and supersedes any prior agreements or understandings.
