Privacy

JVtools is a one-person studio. This page says what happens to your data when you visit this site, buy a tool or use one. The short version: the site itself collects nothing, purchases are handled by Gumroad, and the tools do not phone home beyond a once-per-session version check.

This website

jvtools.dev sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no accounts, forms or newsletter. Fonts and every other asset are served from this domain, so loading a page here sends nothing to a third party. The documentation at /docs is served the same way, and its search runs entirely in your browser.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver a page Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details, and it may keep them in short-lived logs for security and operations. That processing is described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. I do not have a way to see who visited.

Links to Gumroad, YouTube and Discord are plain links. Nothing from those services loads until you click one, and once you do, their own privacy policies apply.

Buying a tool

Purchases go through Gumroad, which is the seller of record. Gumroad collects what a purchase needs: your name, email address, payment details and country for tax. I never see your payment details. Gumroad shows me the name, email and country attached to each order, which I use for exactly three things: handling refunds, answering support requests and verifying a licence. I do not add buyers to a mailing list and I do not share or sell that information. How Gumroad handles your data is in Gumroad's privacy policy.

Using a tool

The tools run inside Houdini on your machine and keep nothing about you. The one network request any of them makes is an update check: once per Houdini session, when you press a tool's main action button, the node downloads a small version file from GitHub to see whether a newer release exists. Like any download, that request carries your IP address to GitHub. It carries nothing about you, your scene, your licence or your machine, and it fails silently if you are offline. GitHub's handling of that request is covered by GitHub's privacy statement.

To show the update notice only once, a tool writes a small marker file in your Houdini preferences folder. It contains no data and you can delete it at any time.

Writing to me

If you email [email protected] I keep the correspondence for as long as it takes to deal with it, and then for as long as it is useful to remember what was agreed. Support conversations on Discord stay on Discord under its own terms.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, the UK or anywhere with similar rules, you can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Email [email protected] and I will answer. For the data Gumroad holds about a purchase, Gumroad handles those requests directly. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

If anything above changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
